Prior to the pandemic, the Caribbean Students’ Association was a vibrant and active club here at Wes. After COVID, there’s been efforts to revitalize it and bring it back but no active initiative. That’s when Anisah, Sabina, and I decided to start it back up officially.
Last Sunday, September 24th, we had our first collective meeting to speak on our mission statement, positions, and interest forms. We were also able to bond over Jamaican food and music from the Caribbean Islands. We’re looking forward to see how this organization and community grows, and we are looking to extend our board for the year.
Some upcoming events include the LAM Formal, the SOC Formal, and bonding events throughout the semester. There’s been an overwhelming amount of support and interest, so we’re all excited to see our visions and a Caribbean community come to life here at Wes.
