Introducing 26-27 FCGS Global Engagement and Intercultural Learning Assistant Lizbeth Ramirez

September 9, 2026

Hello! My name is Lizbeth Ramirez ’28, and I am a junior at Wesleyan University studying Government & Education Studies with a minor in Global Engagement. I am originally from Tennessee and am passionate about language learning, intercultural exchange, education, and creating opportunities for students to engage with cultures and communities beyond their own. This year, I am excited to work as the Global Engagement and Intercultural Learning Assistant with the Fries Center for Global Studies, where I will support intercultural and language-learning initiatives, promote events and opportunities on campus, and connect students with resources that encourage global engagement!

I am very involved in the Wesleyan community. I work as a campus tour guide and am involved with the QuestBridge Chapter and FGLI communities on campus. This past summer, I participated in the U.S. Department of State’s Critical Language Scholarship Program in Gwangju, South Korea, where I studied Korean through intensive language classes and cultural immersion. During my time in Korea, I had the opportunity to travel throughout the country, learn about Korean history and traditions, and connect with people in the local community. I also had the opportunity to reconnect with family in Jeonju, which made the experience especially meaningful to me!

This year, I am excited to connect my own experiences and passions with creating more opportunities for students at Wesleyan to engage with languages and cultures from around the world. I hope to help make intercultural and language learning more accessible and encourage students to explore new perspectives and communities!
