Friday, March 27 at 12:15 pm in Fisk 201 or on Zoom: a conversation with current Wesleyan Watson Fellows Maryam Badr ’25 and Malia Detar Cheung ‘25 – Register on WesNest to help us get a head count for food! Or to get the Zoom link if you need to join online. More info below.
The Thomas J. Watson Fellowship allows Wesleyan seniors of any citizenship and any major to propose a 12-month international project to pursue after graduation.
Maryam’s project explores the intersection of displacement and public health through the experiences of refugees, healthcare workers and human rights activists. At Wesleyan, she double majored in Neuroscience & Behavior and East Asian Studies.
Malia is a choreographer interested in interspecies relationships – her project examines the artistic capabilities of animals, especially horses, with the goal of expanding our potential for creative participation and connection. Malia majored in Dance and College of Letters.
Join us to learn more about Maryam’s and Malia’s projects and how you can forge your own international path as a Watson Fellow! Students work on their applications during the summer before their senior year.
Students of all class years are welcome to join the event. It’s never too early to learn about the Watson Fellowship and think of what your own fellowship year could be! Or just come if you’re curious about their topic and the people they’ve met on their journeys.
