Fulbright Alumni Panel

By Cecilia Briana Foldessy-Stiegemeier ‘26

Last Friday, the Office of Fellowships hosted an alumni panel during the 2026 Power of Language Week. The event featured Teva Corwin (’25) and Czarina Yuffa (’25), both currently serving as Fulbright English Teaching Assistants, with Corwin in Mexico and Yuffa in Uzbekistan. Students were able to hear first-hand about the program– the application process, the day-to-day, and plans for the future.

Corwin and Yuffa spoke about their teaching experiences, daily schedules, and what surprised them most compared to their expectations when applying a year ago. Corwin is based at a teacher training college, where most of her students are undergraduates studying to become educators, though some days she accompanies them to preschools as they complete their practical training. Yuffa reflected that a highlight of her Fulbright experience has been immersing herself in her local community: sharing dinners with a new friend’s family, attending a wedding, and traveling across Uzbekistan.

These panels are a wonderful opportunity to hear firsthand from recent alumni, and are open to students of all class years who are curious about fellowship opportunities. Watch the replay here and visit our Fulbright page to learn more, or schedule a meeting with the office to talk through options! And, of course, stay tuned to the Office of Fellowships for more events like this one coming soon.
