Tomorrow, November 14th, marks the first day of International Education Week 2025.
International Education Week (IEW) is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. Originally a joint initiative with the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education, IEW was developed to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences.
This year, we carry on the tradition at Wesleyan with a wide array of events that each uniquely highlight cultures and languages from across the world. Find the list of events here, running through November 21st.
As we kick off the festivities tomorrow, it’s important to remember how we can all become more informed, empathetic, and interesting members of this campus, and citizens of this world:
IEW Goals at Wesleyan:
- Increase awareness of and promote global learning opportunities within and outside of Wesleyan
- Preserve and celebrate our interconnected cultural and linguistic heritages and shared environment
- Foster togetherness via intercultural dialogue
- Encourage interdisciplinary discourse about global pressures that threaten our shared heritage, including English dominance, forced migration, and climate change
