The Fries Center for Global Studies is excited to introduce the Wesleyan Language Ambassadors program!
Wesleyan Language Ambassadors are a group of multilingual students who are passionate about languages and helping their peers navigate Wesleyan’s open curriculum to reach their language learning goals.
Language ambassadors will help promote the study of languages on campus and help raise awareness of the 15+ language offerings at Wes through self-designed projects.
Becoming a Language Ambassador will provide you with the opportunity to:
- Promote the study of languages through campus outreach, social media, and word-of-mouth
- Practice articulating the value of your experience learning language(s) to others
- Make connections across campus and learn about Wesleyan’s language offerings
- Be a leader and plan your own events, create resources for others, and collaborate with FLTAs, study abroad ambassadors, and language programs
- Provide peer advising to other students studying languages at Wes, especially those in Divisions 2 and 3
- Be featured on the FCGS website as a point of contact for students
Required qualifications for Language Ambassadors are:
- Wesleyan undergraduate students in good standing with the university
- Multiligual, broadly defined; students who have learned a second or third language at Wes are preferred
- Dedicated to supporting fellow Wesleyan students as they pursue language study options
- Passionate about cultural sensitivity and global citizenship as a goal of learning language
- Strong interpersonal and intercultural communicators, especially as it pertains to writing and speaking
- Self-motivated in completing tasks and responsible for communicating on a timely manner with peers and supervisor
