Internationalizing the Curriculum Seminar 2021-2022 Applications Open

Open to all faculty members, Wesleyan’s second Internationalizing the Curriculum Seminar has begun accepting applications. In order to collaborate with faculty to fulfill the Fries Center for Global Studies’ mission to “advance the knowledge, language and intercultural skills, self-awareness, and empathy needed for responsible participation in an increasingly interdependent world,” we offer this four-session seminar. Faculty members, including Chairs or Directors, use this time to explore how to bring international, transnational, global, and/or decolonizing elements into their curricula and courses. The inaugural seminar had participation from all three Divisions: Arts and Humanities, Social and Behavioral Sciences, and Natural Sciences and Mathematics.

All faculty are encouraged to apply, regardless of whether their courses and curricula already contain internationalized elements. Participants with more experience are a rich resource for those with less. Moreover, these participants do not always have an outlet to discuss these elements from different perspectives and with colleagues from different departments. This discussion and reflective time are great benefits of the seminar.

In addition to these benefits, each participant will receive a stipend of $500. To apply, please submit the new Unified Pedagogical Initiatives application: https://forms.gle/36Dy3ZL51uniPcHC6. The deadline is May 21, 2021.
