Where In the World Are You Going This Summer? Check Out Our Collaborative Travel Map

By Charlotte Li ’28

Are you traveling somewhere over the summer? Are you going back home as an international student? So done with finals and can’t wait to plan for summer break? This summer, we are building a living, collaborative travel guide open and created by all Wesleyan students. This is a shared world map where anyone can drop a pin on a destination and leave their personal tips and recommendations. Heading to Japan? Let people know about the unspoken subway etiquette. From Hong Kong? Share a local restaurant that no tourist ever finds. Spent a week in Costa Rica? Tell us what was actually is worth it.

Whether you’re a local with insider knowledge or a traveler looking for advice, there’s a spot for you on this map. And the best part? You can comment on each other’s posts — so locals can respond directly to travelers heading their way.

What can you share?

  • Food you absolutely have to try
  • Cultural norms and etiquette
  • Honest tips/ tourist trap
  • Local secrets tourists
  • Activities and hidden gems
  • Questions for locals if traveling

Heading Home? Know a place well?

Share your insider tips to people who are traveling there this summer– food spots, cultural norms, hidden gems that tourists often miss or always get wrong.

Traveling or working somewhere else?

Pin your destination and ask for advice. Locals from that place can comment with their best recommendations.
