The Gaither Junior Fellows Program provides an opportunity for approximately 15 students who desire careers in international affairs to have a substantive working experience in Washington, D.C. Junior Fellows work as research assistants to scholars working at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. Due to the limited number of students accepted, all applicants must be nominated by their university and that universities nominate no more than two (current seniors or members of the class of ’25 are eligible to apply at the campus level).

The James C. Gaither Junior Fellows Program seeks diversity in all of its programs and encourages participating institutions to nominate candidates regardless of race, gender, ethnic background, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability or veteran status. To be eligible one must have work authorization in the US for one year; the opportunity is open to applicants of all citizenships who can meet this requirement.
