Hi! My name is Charlotte from Hong Kong and Shenzhen, China. I’m a sophomore with a prospective major in Sociology, Science and Technology Studies, and a minor in Global Engagement. This semester, I’m co-leading the Cantonese Table and the student forum “Cantonese: Its language and Linguicide.” We teach Cantonese and its culture while spreading awareness of language loss. As a Language Ambassador, I wish to make languages that are less spoken at Wesleyan more visible and make their voice louder, creating a safe space where all the languages can be heard. I’m excited to initiate language events in the future and hear about interesting stories of different people and their beautiful languages.
