Rachel Walker
Class of ’27
Hello all! I’m Rachel (she/her), and I’m a junior majoring in Biology and minoring in Religion. Since the first week of August, I’ve been living and studying in Nepal with the Pitzer College in Nepal program, Kathmandu! One of the most special parts about my program is that I came in with no language experience and have been learning Nepali in small classes for 4-5 hours every day, as well as living with a host family who speaks no English. My language skills have improved so much, as every day I am using it out in the world, and it’s been amazing to explore the diversity of this country – from the Himalaya to the tropical plains. I’m so stoked for my next few months here (including conducting a 4-week personal research project in a new village, all in Nepali!), and I can’t wait to share it with you all!

Ryan Wong
Class of ’27

Hi! My name is Ryan, and I’m a junior majoring in Sociology and Environmental Studies. I’m originally from Penang, Malaysia, and am currently studying abroad (again) in Buenos Aires, Argentina! When I’m on campus, I dance with FXT and KDC and co-run an informal catering service to raise funds for different causes. Outside of Wesleyan, I co-lead an organization that develops educational materials for Southeast Asian high schoolers – all while continuing to dance and cook!
Sara Larson
Class of ’27
Hi everyone! My name is Sara Larson, and I am a Neuroscience and Behavior and Psychology double major. I am studying abroad in Cape Town, South Africa, in the CIEE Arts and Sciences program. South Africa is home to many different cultures, as the country has 12 official languages. Because of this, Cape Town is a melting pot of culture, arts, and cuisine. Located between Table Mountain and the ocean (both the Indian and Atlantic Oceans), its unique placement adds to the beauty and vibrancy of the city. So far, I have had an amazing and eye-opening time taking classes at the University of Cape Town, learning about Apartheid in South Africa, exploring the mountains, beaches, and immersing myself in the different cultures of local communities. Studying in Cape Town has been an extraordinary opportunity that is proving to be adding great depth to my education at Wesleyan, and I am excited to share some of my experience with the rest of the Wes community.

Luné Ariel Maldonado
Class of ’27

G’day everyone! My name is Luné Ariel Maldonado and I am a Junior/Third-year Student triple majoring in English, Mathematics, and Dance. I am currently studying abroad in Melbourne, a major Australian city in the state of Victoria at the University of Melbourne! The city has been a delight to experience as Australia’s cultural and artistic capital with plenty of exhibitions, pop-ups, diverse gatherings and more around. It is bustling with life just as I have been dancing with life while exploring it and all of the little crevices which give it its charm. Study abroad has been no easy feat however since my two English classes and two Mathematics classes give me a run for my money with how deep the material goes and how rigorous they are! I hope to be able to showcase all the ins and outs of a diverse experience studying abroad across the globe.
