The Fulbright US Student Program is the United States’ premier international cultural exchange program for US citizens and nationals. Through Fulbright, Wesleyan graduates can teach, research, or study in one of 140+ countries for an academic year. Come to our alumni panel to learn more about the program and to hear how the application process works at Wes! Wesleyan has been a Top Producing Institution with the Fulbright program for 6 years running.
The events will be held live (with Zoom panelists) in Fisk 201, but students can also join on Zoom if needed. Contact fellowships@wesleyan.edu with questions.
Fulbright Alumni Panel: English Teaching Assistantships and Study/Research around the World

- Joanna Paul ’18 majored in Psychology and Sociology at Wesleyan. She is currently an English Teaching Assistant (ETA) in Berlin, Germany.
- Simon Worth ’24 majored in the College of Letters and studied abroad in Yaoundé, Cameroon. He is currently a Fulbright ETA in Madagascar.
- Melanie Cham ’24 majored in and undertook a Fulbright Study/Research Grant in India, where she focused on independent research in paleontology.
Teaching English in Latin America through Fulbright

- Daisy Montoya ’24 majored in Psychology and Education Studies at Wes before beginning a Fulbright ETA in Mexico.
- Emily McDougal ’24 majored in Romance Studies and minored in East Asian Studies. She completed her Fulbright ETA in Argentina in December 2024.
Focus on Fulbright Study/Research Grants

- Sophie Mann-Shafir ‘21 majored in History at Wesleyan. After two years as a working journalist, she traveled to southern Italy to complete a Fulbright research project on conscientious objection among Italian medical professionals.
- David Vizgan ’21 double majored in Physics and Astronomy before embarking on his Fulbright to Denmark, where he completed astrophysics research at the Cosmic Dawn Center, a Center of Excellence located in Copenhagen and funded by the Danish National Research Foundation.
