Introducing the Spring 2025 Global Correspondents

 Isaías Pagán De Jesús

Hola todas todos todes, السلام عليكم and hello! My name is Isaías Pagán De Jesús, and I am ecstatic to be one of this semester’s global correspondents! Who am I? I am a Puerto Rican-born, Arkansas-raised junior at Wesleyan majoring in Film Studies, minoring in Global Engagement, and currently studying abroad in Egypt at the American University in Cairo. This semester has been something I’ve wanted to do for a very long time, and it feels like a dream come true after less than a month being here. I’m enjoying everything from going into downtown and exploring with my friends to taking classes on Egyptian and Modern Standard Arabic, as well as classes on Egypt from its films to its architecture. Trying to balance everything can be overwhelming, but I wouldn’t have it any other way! I hope to keep engaging with everyone at Wes as the semester goes along 🙂

Henry Ewing-Crystal

Hello everyone! My name is Henry and I am a Molecular Biology and Biochemistry major with minors in chemistry and animal studies. This semester I am doing the Loop Abroad Pre-veterinary semester in Chiang Mai, Thailand. So far I’ve had the amazing opportunity to experience Thai culture while working with dogs, cats, and even elephants! I am excited to continue working with the animals, including during our zoo medicine and marine life portions (as well as continue to stuff myself with Thai food).

Diana Tran

Hello everyone! My name is Diana Tran,  class of 2026.  I am a very proud College of Letters major that also has a Middle-Eastern Studies minor! I’m currently studying abroad in Rabat, Morocco, and I am loving it! My focus this semester is on Arabic literature and contemporary politics in the MENA region. I also hope to study more Tamazight, which is the language of the Amazigh people, that I studied for a semester at Wesleyan. I’ve already travelled to Marrakesh, and I will be travelling to Fez soon. In my free time, I’m buying cat food to feed (and bribe) the local cats. They’re so friendly and sweet!  Expect to see many cat photos from me!

Jenny Ongele

Hi everyone! My name is Jenny Ongele (she/her) and I’m a junior double majoring in Sociology and Film Studies. This Spring, I’m studying abroad at the National University of Ireland Galway (NUIG) through Arcadia Abroad. Beyond furthering my studies in my respective majors, at NUIG I’ve spent the past month learning and understanding Irish culture through travels across the country, an involvement in numerous societies, and working with local school children. I’ve already made so many fond memories and I look forward to having the craic for the rest of the semester!

We can’t wait to see how their adventures unfold this semester!
