International Education Week is Coming Back to Wes!

The Wesleyan International Education Week Committee invites everyone to submit event proposals for the 2023 International Education Week taking place November 13 -17!  Deadline to submit is October 15th.

International Education Week (IEW) is a national event, historically celebrating the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. At our celebration here at Wesleyan, we are committed to being collectively mindful of the intersecting complexities, inequities, and sensitivities inherent in exploring across cultural, social, economic, and political communities.

Wesleyan International Education Week aims to feature events and programs that will celebrate the rich cultural diversity of our community through the lens of inclusivity, social justice, decolonization, cultural context, and equity literacy.

Some examples of past year’s events include the Foreign Language Teaching Assistants potluck which featured foods from around the world, a Chinese calligraphy lesson, a session about opportunities to teach English abroad, an international student talent showcase, a movie screening (Rafiki: A coming-of-age romance story between two young Kenyan women), Wesleyan Refugee Project Information Session, among many others!

The Wes IEW committee calls on student, faculty and staff organizers to facilitate student-led spaces where people feel safe, welcome, and heard so we can generate an open discourse between anyone at Wes interested in promoting fair and equitable experiences of international education and exchange. Please complete this form by 10/15/23 if you have an event in mind!

Any questions, please reach out to Thais García Bagué, Global Learning Outreach Fellow, at tgarcia@wesleyan.edu.  If you’re interested in joining our committee, please contact Morgan Keller, Dir. of OISA, at mkeller@wesleyan.eduSTUDENTS WELCOME!  We look forward to seeing what people initiate for IEW 2023!
