Introducing the Wesleyan Study Abroad Ambassador Program! This brand new program gives study abroad returnees an opportunity to share their international experiences and support their fellow students in a meaningful way.
In-person and virtual info sessions about the program will take place on Tuesday, March 3. RSVP here.
Study Abroad Ambassadors will work closely with the Office of Study Abroad to support Wesleyan students as they navigate each phase of their study abroad experience. Ambassadors will promote international experiences and intercultural learning opportunities, offer guidance to applicants and outgoing students, and support students once they return to campus.
The Study Abroad Ambassador Program provides an opportunity for you to:
- Advocate for the needs of Wesleyan students before, during, and after their study abroad experiences
- Represent the Wesleyan Office of Study Abroad at campus-wide events, such as the Study Abroad Fair, International Education Week, WesFest,
- Represent the Wesleyan Office of Study Abroad at office-or program-specific events, such as information sessions, classroom visits, pre-departure orientations, re-entry events, etc.
- Be creative! Plan your own event, curate a new resource, or collaborate with your fellow ambassadors to organize a new initiative on campus related to study abroad
- Appear on the Office of Study Abroad website as a point of contact for students with questions or concerns
- Promote study abroad through word-of-mouth, social media, on-campus outreach, and other marketing efforts
The required qualifications for Study Abroad Ambassadors are:
- Wesleyan undergraduate student in good standing with the university
- Experience studying abroad through Wesleyan for a semester, year, summer, or winter term
- Passion to support fellow Wesleyan students as they navigate the study abroad process, from pre-departure to re-entry
- A strong desire to advance diversity and inclusion in study abroad
- Dedication to sharing your study abroad experiences with other Wesleyan students
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (writing, speaking)
- Reliability and accountability for overall responsibilities and timely correspondence with peers and the Office of Study Abroad
