Everything You Need To Know For Fall 2020 Study Abroad Deadlines

As the Fall 2019 semester draws to a close and students eagerly await their seasonal (and well earned) reprieve, the Office of Study Abroad would like to bring students’ attention to early deadlines for some Fall 2020 and full academic year programs

As students may know, the deadlines for completing Wesleyan’s permission to study abroad for the 2020 Fall/Year are February 22, 2020 for Wesleyan consortium programs, petition applications, and select exchanges, and March 1, 2020 for pre-approved programs. These deadlines typically provide ample time for the student to complete the application process through the program provider while securing Wesleyan’s permission. However, the Office of Study Abroad wishes to recognize and highlight some notable exceptions and early deadlines which may require more advanced planning on the student’s behalf.

Many program providers will require study abroad advisor approval before accepting an application. As such students are strongly encouraged to communicate their intention to apply by starting their applications and attending a First Steps Meeting, so the OSA can initiate the approval process.  This First Steps Meeting is a required 15-20 minute presentation overview of academic policies and the application procedure for students interested in studying abroad. These meetings are available in a drop-in basis during the OSA’s open office hours (MWF 10AM-12PM, TTh 2PM-4PM).  For more information on the application process and necessary steps please follow this link.
